Why is an old scar from over 30 years ago now hurting?

I had a staph infection in a bad spot (backside) over 30 years. it was lanced, drained and I had a scar there all these years, never bothered me at all. Now, it is hurting feels like a cut. Bought a scar tissue repair, does nothing , just soothes. still hurts.
