Writing a check then putting a stop payment on it?

If he cashed your check, but didn't provide you with the services, you are in the right. I wouldn't write a check, then put a stop payment on it, as that would just make things bad for you. Talk to the attorney generals office in your state (consumer affairs) and see what they can advise. I would also take up a "free consultation" from a lawyer and get some advice from them as well, then go from there. You will have the burden of proof, so you will have to make sure you have a paper trail. Good luck.
