American Idol audition process?

Hate to break it to you... I've never auditioned BUT I was watching Idol Tonite! and they said that yes, your first audition ISNT in front of Randy,Paula and Simon. I belive it's in fornt of the producers and if they dont think your good enough to get to the actual audition they basically kick you to the curb! Well, that's what Justin Guarini said!
